Local search engine optimisation (SEO) connects your business with the people who are most likely to visit, call or purchase from you. When customers search for a service “near me” on Google or Maps, a well‑optimised local presence ensures you show up in those results.
Nearly half of all Google searches have local intent, so getting your business listed correctly can make the difference between winning and losing a new customer

How Can We Help?

Be Found Locally When It Matters
In today’s digital world, winning local customers starts with being visible wherever people search. That includes Google, Google Maps and Bing, and now AI assistants that surface trusted local businesses. At DPOM, we help small businesses adapt to this shift with Local SEO that is practical, measurable and built for the future. Our aim is simple. Get you found by nearby customers who are ready to call, visit or book.
Our team brings more than 14 years of experience delivering tailored SEO that drives real results. We do not rely on AI to automate your SEO. We use human expertise, data-led strategy and industry best practice to make your website easy to find and simple to choose. From technical fixes and content planning to location pages and performance tracking, every task supports one goal. More high quality local enquiries.
No two local markets are the same. That is why we build a plan around your goals, your service area and the way customers actually search for you. Whether you want to dominate your town, expand into nearby areas or improve how you appear inside AI-generated answers, we design a route that fits your budget and timeline.
Trusted by businesses across the UK and supported by hundreds of five star reviews on Feefo, DPOM is your partner for sustainable local growth. Let us help your business stand out in local results, on the map and within the AI driven search experiences that are shaping how people choose who to contact next.

Our Local SEO Service
At DPOM, we help small businesses get found by the right people in the areas that matter most. Instead of chasing vanity traffic, we focus on the local searches that actually turn into calls, enquiries and bookings. Your specialist will take the time to understand your services, your service area and the type of customers you want more of, then build a local SEO strategy around real world goals, not just rankings.
Our Local SEO service covers everything needed to improve your local visibility, including your website and your Google Business Profile. From on page optimisation and locally focused content, through to building consistent citations and encouraging more genuine reviews, we join everything up so your business stands out in local search and in the map pack, not just in theory but in your day to day enquiries.

Why Local SEO?
Reach customers when and where they’re looking – Local SEO allows you to show up in local search results such as “plumber near me.” When people search for a service nearby, they’re usually ready to buy. Visibility at this stage drives high‑intent enquiries and foot traffic.
Cost‑effective marketing – Targeting customers in your area through local search and Google Business Profile optimisation is more affordable than broad advertising campaigns and makes it easy to track results.
Build trust and credibility – Appearing in local search results, especially with positive reviews and local backlinks, boosts credibility. Customers are more likely to choose a nearby business with a strong local presence and good feedback.
Optimised for mobile users – Consumers increasingly search on mobile devices; a local SEO strategy helps you reach these on‑the‑go customers and guide them directly to your location.
Increased foot traffic and sales – A strong local presence converts online searches into visits and sales.
More leads for tradespeople, professionals and professional services – Get more leads for your business and win new local customers.

Our Local SEO Approach
Once you sign up for our Local SEO service, we will follow a clear and structured process to improve your visibility in local search and Google Maps. The steps we take will depend on your current situation. For example, if you already have a Google Business Profile or existing optimisation in place, our starting point may vary slightly. Our goal is to make sure your business is set up for strong long term local results from day one

Step 1
Onboarding And Local Discovery
We start with a proper conversation about your business, the areas you serve and the type of customers you want to attract. Your dedicated SEO specialist will review your website, existing rankings and Google Business Profile and combine this with an onboarding questionnaire. We will identify your priority services, the towns and cities you want to appear in and what a valuable enquiry looks like so the whole strategy is built around local results that matter to you.

Step 2
Keyword And Competitor Research
Next we carry out detailed keyword research focused on local intent. This includes service plus location terms, near me searches and long tail questions your ideal customers are asking. We review the competitors who already rank well in your target areas, analyse their content and backlinks and map the best keywords to the right pages on your site. This gives us a clear plan of what needs to be created, improved and expanded to win more local visibility.

Step 3
Tracking, Analytics And Benchmarks
Before we make changes we put proper measurement in place. We check that Google Analytics and Google Search Console are set up correctly, configure goals for calls and enquiries and add tracking so you can see which channels drive leads. We also record baseline rankings, traffic and enquiry levels for your key locations. This means you can clearly see the impact of our local SEO work over time rather than relying on guesswork.

Step 4
On Site SEO And Technical Foundations
Using the research from earlier stages we optimise your website so it is easy for search engines and customers to understand. This includes improving page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and on page content for local keywords. We also fix key technical issues that may be holding you back such as crawl problems, slow load times and mobile usability so you have a solid foundation for long term local growth.

Step 5
Google Business Profile And Local Signals
Your Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business, is crucial for appearing in the map pack. We optimise your profile from top to bottom including categories, services, description, opening hours, photos and tracking links. We also put a plan in place for regular posts, questions and answers and review responses. Alongside this we work on local citations and directory listings so your business name, address and phone number are consistent across the web, strengthening your local authority.

Step 6
Local Content And Landing Pages
With the foundations in place we then create or improve the pages that will actually rank and convert. This can include local service pages, location pages and helpful blog content that answers common questions in your area. Each page is written to support both users and search engines, with clear calls to action so visitors can easily call, email or request a quote. The goal is simple: more of the right people finding you in the right locations.

Step 7
Data Gathering And Behaviour Analysis
After the initial work we focus on collecting meaningful data instead of making quick changes with no evidence. We monitor how users arrive on your site, which pages they visit, how often they call or send enquiries and which locations perform best. We also review search queries in Google Search Console and your Google Business Profile insights so we can see how real local customers are finding and interacting with your business.

Step 8
Ongoing Local SEO Optimisation
Using real data we refine and expand the strategy. This can include improving underperforming pages, creating new content to target additional towns, adjusting internal linking, updating meta data and testing different on page calls to action. On the local side we keep your Google Business Profile fresh with new posts and photos and use what we learn to encourage more reviews from happy customers in your key areas.

Step 9
Monthly Report And Strategy Session
Each month we provide a clear report that focuses on what matters: visibility in your target areas, enquiries and leads. We walk you through changes in rankings, traffic, Google Business Profile performance and the actions we have taken. We then agree the next set of priorities together so the campaign always reflects your goals, seasonality and any changes in your business.

Step 10
Long Term Local Growth
Over time your local SEO campaign becomes more powerful as we build on what works and phase out what does not. We continue to grow your presence across your core locations, explore new areas if you want to expand and keep your website and Google Business Profile ahead of local competitors. The result is a steady increase in relevant enquiries and a stronger presence in the places that matter most to your business.

SEO Frequently Asked Questions
New to SEO? Here are our frequently asked questions! If you’d like to ask more, just reach out to us here!
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) makes it possible for people to find you in organic search results without having to pay for ads. SEO still requires investment and time but as a long-term marketing strategy, it has some of the best ROI available. As optimisation progresses, you get more organic traffic and more traffic = more customers and revenue.
SEO isn’t just about ranking for 1 or a handful of super competitive keywords. It’s about understanding the market in which you operate and ranking for 100’s or even 1000’s of search terms that your potential customers use when buying your products. Spoiler: Only a minority of customers use that big obvious term that you’re thinking about. In fact, 70% of searches online come from what is known as ‘long-tail keywords’ which means more specific sets of terms usually more than 3 words long. For example the term “jeans” might have lots of volume, but it’s incredibly competitive. However, when you consider that search terms such as “blue jeans 32-inch waist ” and 1000’s of other variations in aggregate equal more search volume AND are more specific, they indicate a customer is more ready to buy and as such, lead to more sales. Going Niche is the key to any successful SEO campaign.
Link schemes are against Google Webmaster Guidelines and can result in penalties including permanent exclusion from Google. We do however create compelling content which attracts natural links that helps increase your visibility. It is important to remember that links are just one of over 500 factors when it comes to ranking well. If you want to obtain links, you need to create content that people WANT to link too.
Not only does quality content attract natural links, it helps search engines like Google and Bing understand more about your website and what search terms to rank you for. All of our SEO packages include content creation (like a blog for example) as standard – it is critical to achieving increased visibility.
SEO is a long term marketing activity. It usually takes several months to see notable performance increases and performance usually increases as the months and years go on. SEO is a perpetual marketing activity: if you stop, you fall behind.
Yes. In fact, over the long term, it has some of the best ROI out there. However, patience is key and you must expect it to take several months to really start delivering results. Beware of SEO agencies offering quick results: They may be engaging in practices that do not conform to Google Webmaster Guidelines which could result in your site getting a ranking penalty or even permanent exclusion from search results.
