It is common knowledge that mobile searching is becoming increasingly popular as more people switch to their hand-held device rather than use their desktop. So, in timely fashion, Google have redesigned Google shopping in hope of driving even more customers to purchase at the crucial point of their search.
Forty-percent of shopping searches are on broad terms, basically speaking we know the kind of item we want but are unsure of exactly which product we should buy. By showing us the most commonly searched for categories when we search for these broad terms it gives us the freedom of choosing the right product in a much easier fashion. The shopping search results will use the attributes: features, brand and price to determine which products to show.
We can now also find lots of information about a particular product without having to load separate webpages. We can now easily swipe through tons of information such as reviews & product information, or just to view more pictures of the product you’re interested in.
If we search for something that we are pretty specific about, there will be more information about that product including which merchants sell said item & which have that product in stock.
Finally, Google say that 1 in 4 people who avoid visiting a store whilst out and about do so because they are unsure whether the product they are searching for is in stock. With the recent changes if we search for a product we will be given a map of stores close by that have the toy in stock.
This should make the Christmas shopping just a little bit easier!
