Call Answering FAQs

What counts as an answered call?

Any call Relay picks up and handles in your business name. Calls that go to voicemail or that you answer yourself on the forwarding plan do not count towards your block.

What happens if I use all my calls in a month?

Nothing scary. Extra calls are £1.50 each, and if you go over two months running we will suggest moving up a block because it works out cheaper for you. We will never silently run up a bill.

Can callers be put through to me live?

Yes, on Relay 125 and above. Relay checks who is calling and what they need first, then puts genuine customers straight through to your mobile. If you are busy, it takes the message instead.

Is it really available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Relay does not sleep, take holidays or call in sick. Evening and weekend calls, which are exactly when emergency work tends to come in, get answered the same as a Tuesday morning.

Can I keep my number if I leave?

Yes. With your account settled we will move your number to a provider of your choice, free of charge. What is yours stays yours.

Does this replace my phone line?

No. It is an inbound answering service. You make your normal outbound calls from your own phone, and emergency 999 calls stay on your own phone as they should.

How quickly can I be up and running?

Usually within days. UK regulations require us to verify your name and business address before a number goes live, which we sort with you during setup.

What does Relay sound like?

A natural, professional UK voice that answers in your business name. Most callers simply will not realise they are talking to an AI, and Relay never pretends to be human if anyone asks.
