Have Google peaked with desktop search?
Business desk concept - DIGITAL MARKETING

ComScore have released their monthly report regarding US desktop search market share and it makes for interesting reading. In August Google controlled 63.8 percent of the market share. Bing has 20.6 and Yahoo saw 12.7 percent. Bing made a slight increase,  seemingly at the expense of Google whilst Yahoo stayed the same. Month on month Google are only 0.2 off however the companies desktop search is down nearly 4 points in comparison with a year ago when it was 67.6 percent.

In August there were 17.6 billion PC based searches and Google executed 11.3 billion of them. Google also controls nearly 90% of the mobile search in the US. Statcounter may not be 100% accurate with that figure, but the difference in mobile search volumes between Google and its competitors is certainly accurate.
