Google have announced via social media yesterday, that pages with an app install interstitial that covers too much significant content won’t be considered mobile-friendly, this could effectively also lead to ranking declines.
The update follows on from “mobilegeddon” and will be built directly into that mobile friendly algorithm, so effectively this is mobilegeddon v2, although as of yet there has been no major uproar regarding the change.
Google recommends that instead of using full-page interstitials, webmasters should focus on the more user-friendly options such as app install banners.
The update is intended to simply make it easier for searchers to view the content of the pages they are looking for, not the interstitial ads.
