Google have announced that they’re going to be showing twitter content in their Google desktop search results.
Back in May, US search results on mobile started showing tweets in search results & now twitter content will be shown to all English searches on desktop.
Tweets will only show if Google thinks that they will be relevant to the user as obviously just sticking random tweets into the search results would not give the user a better experience. Google also inform us that users do not need to have a twitter account in order to see or click these tweets.
The longer the Twitter results continue to show the more relevant the twitter results will be.
These changes will help businesses dominate searches, especially for brand related terms, by showing even more relevant content, which can only be a positive thing.
